Reading the Zedge Marketplace Seller Artist Royalty Statements
The monthly Artist Royalty Statements are emailed to Sellers/Licensors as Excel documents with two tabs/worksheet for each artist/project within an account.
While most Sellers have only 1 artist/project, you may have multiple.
The Artist Royalty Statement provide Sellers with the answers to two questions:
- How much have I earned this month, and what is my current net balance for any artist/project in my account? This is captured in the Summary sheet.
- How are any/all of the content items in my account performing each day (number of unlocks)? This is captured in the Daily Item Activity sheet.
Summary
The Summary tab (see example image below) shows what you’ve earned in the month for a given artist in your seller account.
This view displays the following rows:
Header Row (column names)
Totals Row
Previous Unpaid Earnings
(carry-forward balance of Total net earnings/revenue from previous month’s statement)
Total earnings by day
For each day of the month we display data in the following columns
Event Count - the total number of unlocks of any monetization type event (Video, Credit purchase, iTunes Revenue and Print-on-Demand (POD) )
Users - the number of total users who have unlocked your content items this month (unique by day)
Ad Plays/Skips (App users can spend credits to skip the ad if they prefer not to wait. Sellers earn for the unlock as if the buyer watched the video)
Zedge Credits - The amount of Zedge credits earned across all items which you sell for credits
iTunes and POD revenue - The total amount earned for any ringtones sold through iTunes, or for Print-on-Demand items (after Apple and/or the print-on-demand partner has taken their percentage)
The Daily Ad Rate - the amount per video unlock against which the total video unlocks for the day are multiplied. These rates vary based on the demand in the ad markets.
Gross Revenue - The total amount of all gross revenue earned for that day adding across the row.
Net Revenue - Generally speaking, this is 70% of the gross revenue. Currency used (USD)

The Bottom Line
Most important to sellers is Totals - Net Revenue (cell K2).
This is the sum of all the days net revenue + the previous unpaid earnings.
This is the current new total as of the close of the month for this artist.
Daily Item Activity
The Daily Item Activity tab allows you to see how each of your content items are selling each day and, for the most part, exposes the detail that makes up the daily revenue summary. It shows Event Counts (labeled Count) Ad Plays/Skips, Zedge Credits (labeled Credits), iTunes sales revenue and POD sales revenue. (shown as a total dollar amount)
Note: It may be more easy to understand the relative performance of all items by pivoting this sheet by Item Name and counts and/or graphing the unlock count of each item are by day (in this case sorted descending by total number of unlocks/event counts).
Similarly, graphing that data by date can help you better see how your items are selling by day
We expect to expose this view in the next generation of on-screen reporting (currently in development).
